Day 01: Arrive Casablanca
Merhaba! We arrive in Casablanca at the Mohamed V Airport and are warmly welcomed before being transferred to the hotel. Check in time is from 1500 hrs.
Overnight: Kenzi Basma Hotel, Casablanca (1 night) (D)
Day 02: Casablanca/Rabat/Fez (Drive)
After breakfast, start our tour of Casablanca with an exploration of the city. Admire the beautiful Mauresque buildings, which meld French-colonial design and traditional Moroccan style. Then, get into the local swing of things by visiting the Quartier Habous. We then move to the beachside suburb of Ain Diab and see Hassan II mosque (supplementary charge for inside visit). Transfer to Rabat*, Morocco’s charming political and administrative capital. Here we embark on a brief sightseeing excursion, exploring the Oudaya Kasbah, Mohammed V Mausoleum and Hassan Tower. We then continue to Fez for dinner and overnight.
Overnight: L’Escale Hotel, Fez (3 nights) (B, D)
Day 03: Fez
Following our morning meal, we dedicate the whole day to a tour of Fez* with a local guide. Fez offers an ancient history that beguiles visitors and has attracted scholars and artisans for a thousand years. It is also considered the capital of gastronomy in Morocco. We will walk through the seemingly blind alleys by foot, exploring squares with exquisite fountains and streets bursting with aromatic food stands. Rooftops unveil a sea of minarets, while stooped doorways reveal the workshops of tireless artisans. We take time to visit Jamaa Al-Karaouine, the world’s first established university, and the Medersa Bouanania. We also explore the largest and oldest medina in Morocco, including tanneries, clay workshops, artisan quarters and souks. (B, D)
Day 04: Fez/Volubilis/Meknes/Fez (Drive)
After breakfast, depart for the whitewashed town of Moulay Idriss, one of the country’s most important pilgrimage sites. Next, we venture to the city of Volubilis*, the best-preserved archaeological site in Morocco. These ruins were declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1997. Their most amazing feature is the many beautiful mosaics preserved in situ. The third stop of the day is Meknes*, an imperial city and one-time home of the Moroccan kingdom founded by Mouly Ismail. The king's tomb, the magnificent Bab el-Mansour, Pl el-Hedim, sits at the heart of what remains of the original imperial city. Return to Fez for dinner and overnight. (B, D)
Day 05: Fez/Beni Mallal/Marrakesh (Drive)
Today, we make our way to Marrakesh. Journey towards the Middle Atlas Mountains through Imouzzer, then Azrou, an authentic Berber village where the locals still live and work like their ancestors. Next, stop in Ifrane to enjoy the flower-lined paths and the French-style architecture of this quaint ski resort. If we’re lucky, we may see Barbary apes leaping from the higher branches of the cedar forest as we drive. We then reach the limestone area of the Middle Atlas, continuing south-west towards Beni Mellal for a lunch break (at own account) before heading west to Marrakesh for dinner and overnight.
Overnight: Le Kech Hotel, Marrakesh (3 nights) (B, D)
Day 06: Marrakesh
An exciting day ahead as we enjoy a full-day guided tour of the powder-pink city of Marrakesh. Our focus is on the medina*, Marrakesh's show-stopping mix of crowded souks (markets). The main artery into this mazy muddle is the vast square of Djemaa El Fna, where it's carnival night every night. Stroll between snail vendors, soothsayers, acrobats, conjurers, musicians and slapstick acting troupes to discover the old city's frenetic pulse. On our exploration through the city, we will discover Bahia Palace and the Dar Si Said, where we will see incredible tile work and intricate floral painted-wood ceilings. We will also explore the Saadian Tombs, enriched by an opulent bounty of marble, the Ben Youssef Medersa and the Koutoubia minaret. We end our adventure with visits to the old Jewish district of the mellahto, the Lazama Synagogue and the Miaâra Jewish cemetery. Enjoy dinner at a local restaurant in Marrakesh. (B, D)
Day 07: Marrakesh
Day free to explore vibrant Marrakesh and its many attractions. (B, D)
Day 08: Marrakesh/Depart Casablanca (Drive)
Morning drive back to Casablanca for our departure flight. Check out time is by 1100 hrs. (B)
B=Breakfast, L=Lunch, D=Dinner
